NBSC FOCUSES ON PROGRESS, PREPAREDNESS, AND PERFORMANCE AT CONVOCATION
Northern Bukidnon State College (NBSC) faculty and staff gathered for the regular Monday Convocation held on November 10, 2025, at the SWDC 1st Floor Lobby. The event featured the formal oath-taking of Mr. Rich Field M. Helario, Instructor I from the Institute of Business Management (IBM), administered by Dr. Christie Jean Villanueva-Ganiera, CESE, SUC President I, who also delivered key institutional announcements and reminders.
Dr. Ganiera extended her congratulations to Mr. Helario as the newest member of the NBSC family. She also commended the college community for responding to the impact of Typhoon Uwan and instructed Mr. Alven L. Gomez, MSEST, Director of the Community Extension Service Division (CESD), to facilitate donation drives and coordinate with relevant partners until Friday, November 14, 2025.
To ensure operational readiness during emergencies, Dr. Ganiera reiterated that it is now a Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) to elevate equipment whenever the Local Government Unit (LGU) of Manolo Fortich or related agencies issue flood or weather advisories. Additionally, she requested to meet with Engr. Jestoni G. Tortola, Head of the Project Management and Monitoring Office (PMMO), and Mr. Fritchar H. Gevero, MA, Head of the General Services Office (GSO) concerning possible flooding near her residence.
On a lighter note, Dr. Ganiera requested Mr. Gevero to provide care for Coffee, NBSC’s officially adopted dog, recognized for its productivity and symbolic contribution to campus life.
The Public Affairs and Information Office (PAIO) has been tasked to lead NBSC’s engagement with the World University Rankings for Innovation (WURI), with the Quality Assurance Office (QAO) offering assistance and mentorship. Meanwhile, the Legal Office will handle preparations for potential participation in the Philippine Quality Award (PQA). Although immediate application is not required, offices are encouraged to study the PQA criteria for integration into institutional targets for the following year.
Dr. Ganiera further announced that the Executive Committee will finalize performance targets based on the Project Procurement Management Plan (PPMPs) and Work and Financial Plan (WFPs) submitted this week. Each office must submit its Office Performance Commitment and Review (OPCR) by next Wednesday (November 19, 2025) for her evaluation, while the deadline for Individual Performance Commitment and Review (IPCR) forms is on December 5.
She also clarified that no in-house trainings should be held in December. Instead, offices will observe a recollection on November 16–18, followed by the Emotional Intelligence (EI) Enhancement Program for new employees or those yet to attend, scheduled for December 2–3. The EI Journey Culmination will take place on December 4, featuring a morning candle-lighting ceremony and one-on-one session with Ms. Teresita R. Albert, work resumption in the afternoon, and a communal dinner expected to conclude by 7:00 PM.
Gratitude was extended to Mr. Benzar Glen S. Grepon, MIT, Supervising Administrative Officer, for spearheading the Citizens’ Charter initiative. A dedicated committee will oversee its formulation and implementation.
Dr. Ganiera concluded her message by congratulating the student-athletes and coaches for their commendable participation in the Mindanao Association of State Tertiary Schools (MASTS) events. She expressed special thanks to Mrs. Rowena E. Bagongon, Director of the Student Affairs, Services, and Development Division (SASDD), and the entire coaching team for their unwavering guidance and support.
The convocation emphasized NBSC’s commitment to employee empowerment, accountability, and community care.
